Ballet On Wheels Dance Company

Leap and pirouette into dance with Ballet On Wheels, Theatre of Dance—an acclaimed, African-American, pre-professional youth dance company.

Created for youngsters who have a burning passion for the art of dance, Ballet On Wheels, Theatre of Dance boasts a rigorous curriculum that prepares students for the performance stage. An invitation-only school, company members receive fundamental instruction on the art form, theory, and presentation experience of classical ballet, pointe, modern, jazz, and hip-hop dance genres.

The Company of Ballet On Wheels performs thirteen to fifteen times a year, giving its students ample experience in the spotlight. The company also performs throughout the year at the invitation of various organizations, social clubs, and special events, and has appeared at the King Day Celebration at the National Civil Rights Museum, Kappa Alpha Psi’s Debutante Tea, Africa in April Cultural Awareness Festival, An Evening of the Arts, Arts in the Park, and the National Baptist Convention Presidential Banquet, to name a few.

Classes run eleven months a year and company members take at least three to four technique classes a week. Graduates have gone on to prestigious national summer intensives and have received dance scholarships to the universities of their choice.

Ballet On Wheels, Theatre of Dance is a member of the National Dance Association and the Tennessee Association of Dance, and is an affiliate member of ArtsMemphis.
